New Passive House Accreditation

Bowman Riley has a new Passive House (Passivhaus) accreditation with an in-house Passive House designer and company membership of the Passivhaus Trust.

With the energy crisis at the forefront of everyone’s minds, we can now offer the services of a Passivhaus (also known as Passive House) designer to support our clients in achieving energy-efficient buildings.

In 2021, Bowman Riley set out our ambitions to achieve carbon net zero by 2030 in line with the RIBA’s 2030 Climate Challenge. One of our key areas of focus to achieve carbon reduction has been the training and development of our people.  Mark Hayton, an accomplished and highly skilled architectural technologist with over 20 years of experience, undertook training to become a certified Passivhaus Designer.

Passivhaus is a leading international design standard for improving the energy efficiency of buildings and reducing the building’s ecological footprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.

Senior Associate April Marsden heads up our drive towards carbon net zero and comments on our latest achievement:

“Many of our clients are seeking to improve the sustainable credentials of their new buildings and their existing estate. We are thrilled that we can support their ambitions with our first-ever Passivhaus Designer. Mark is excited to start putting his qualifications into practice on a range of upcoming projects across the UK”.
