Women in Property Student Awards Regional Finals

Women in Property Student Awards Regional Finals

On Thursday, 15th June, we attended the Association of Women in Property Yorkshire and North East student awards as this year’s regional co-sponsor.

Caroline Woolley handed out the awards to the winners and highly commended awards and talked about the importance of organisations like Women in Property whilst there is still a gender imbalance in the construction industry and a drive towards more diversity and inclusion.

Congratulations to the regional winners, Lucy Gregson studying Architecture at the University of Huddersfield, and Martha Newall studying Residential Development Quantity Surveying at Sheffield Hallam University.  Both students will go on to compete at the student awards finals on 21 September 2023 at Claridge’s in London.

A special mention to the Building Surveying student at Sheffield Hallam University, Marianne Zamgoni, who was Highly Commended and is also our summer work placement student working with our Building Consultancy team in Leeds.

During the awards ceremony, April Marsden gave an inspirational and heartfelt speech about her career journey to date.

April and Samantha Jevons both took part in the two-day judging process and helped select the winners based on presentations the students gave on a university project and their personal brand.

Alex Vousden and Maddie Bradley also attended the awards to represent Bowman Riley and support the student awards.
