Success Stories
Chris Snowden – Senior Architectural Technologist, BSc (Hons) – First Class
Chris has been working as part of our team since leaving school over ten years ago. Chris tells us about his Bowman Riley journey:
“I joined Bowman Riley after finishing Sixth Form at South Craven School. I then enrolled in the Architectural Technology course at Leeds Beckett University, where I studied one day a week as a part-time student. The course took five years to complete, and I graduated with a first-class degree! I have now been with Bowman Riley for 10 years and have recently been promoted to Senior Architectural Technologist. I would definitely recommend the Bowman Riley Academy and the part-time study route; however, it does require a lot of dedication and enthusiasm. The main benefit is being surrounded on a daily basis by over 50 industry professionals who have a wealth of experience and are always willing to share their knowledge.”
Will Gains – Architectural Assistant
Will worked for Bowman Riley for 10 years as part of our Academy scheme from 2013 – 2023. He graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a First-class degree in Architecture in 2019 and has transferred to our London office to continue his career.
Subsequently, Will enrolled as a RIBA Architectural Apprentice and worked towards a Master of Architecture and then a Postgraduate Diploma to become a fully qualified architect.
His role at Bowman Riley is an Architectural Assistant, supporting a variety of projects across different sectors. Day to day he is involved in compiling planning applications, building regulations, drawings, visualisation, design and access statements.
Will was awarded the West Yorkshire Society of Architects Academic Award for Highest Achieving 3rd Year student. He was nominated for the RIBA North Student Prize 2019, and AJ Student Prize 2019.
Would Will recommend the Bowman Riley Academy? In his own words…
“Absolutely! The wealth of free knowledge to call upon is extremely beneficial to your education, and the support and guidance are brilliant. You get a head start in the working world simply by being amongst it from the start, building a network of professionals that you will be able to call upon later in your career. However, it does impact your social and free time as much of the university work has to be completed on weekends and after hours in the evenings.”
In 2023, Will left Bowman Riley to work directly with one of our clients, Shell. We wish him all the best in his future career.
