Conquering Hadrian’s Wall for Charity
Last weekend 19 members of our team took on an epic challenge to conquer Hadrian’s Wall cycling, running and walking to raise funds for our nominated charity, The Cellar Trust.
This challenge brought our team together in a huge physical and mental undertaking whilst raising awareness and funds for a great local cause. We raised £3,036 smashing our target of £3,000. It’s not too late to donate!
Our team embarked on a Top Gear style race by cycling, running or walking along Hadrian’s Wall. From staggered starting points, our cyclists, runners and walkers planned to reach the finish line under the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle at 4pm on Sunday 14th July.
Well done to our Runners: Robert Baxendale, William Gains, Alex Holliday, George Marshall, Chris Snowden and Antony Sutcliffe.
Well done to our cyclists: Sam Cotterill, Michael Feather, Colin Ruddock, Tom Shelley, Lee Stansfield, Brandon Strike and Andrew Tate.
Well done to the walkers: Gemma Clarke, April Marsden, Lewis Eley and Natalie Stott.
Three days on and our participants are still nursing aching muscles. Massive personal achievements include 76 miles over two days for the runners and 98 miles for the cyclists!
A specific mention must go to our CR team, who made the event happen and the driving force behind the challenge Mark Hayton, who supported the teams over the weekend with supplies and encouragement. Dan Heward played his part in driving the invaluable support vehicle.
The Cellar Trust is a Bradford based charity that works to build brighter futures for people recovering from mental health problems. One in four of us face mental health issues in any given year, so the support offered by the Trust is invaluable.
