Leeds Beckett Students Present Leeds City Centre Design Proposals

Today marks an important milestone for the architecture students at Leeds Beckett University.  The students presented their Leeds City Centre Design Proposals.

The 2nd and 3rd-year students were set a project back in September to design proposals to improve under-used areas around Leeds City Centre, including around the iconic Corn Exchange.  Working with Leeds Chamber of Commerce Property Forum, QPS (Quality Place and Spaces) Group, the students have been taking part in regular tutorials and workshops to explore ways to improve these areas of the City.

This afternoon students will present their design proposals to QPS group which includes members of Leeds City Council, Leeds BID and Rushbond (the owners of the Corn Exchange).

Colin Briggs, Architect and Associate Director at Bowman Riley has played a key role in the QPS Group and been instrumental in facilitating the workshops.  He is passionate about inspiring the future generation of architecture students, helping them foster and hone their design skills on a live project.

Following this presentation, the group will debate and discuss all presentations with a view to implementing some of the design proposals.  The students have until May to develop their final submission.
