Diversity & Inclusion Panel Discussion Review

Marketing & Business Development Manager Samantha Jevons chaired a Diversity & Inclusion Panel Discussion on Wednesday 6th October 2021 as part of her role on the Forum for the Built Environment (Fbe) Leeds branch committee.

This lively and informal panel debate discussed the growing importance of Diversity and Inclusion within the construction industry with an inspiring panel of industry professionals comprising Colin Briggs, our Associate Director alongside Project and Programme Manager, Polly Betts from Arcadis, Transport Planner, Shazad Khan from Andy Moseley Associates and Economist, Lisa Littlefair from Mott MacDonald.

There are barriers to entry and progression in many construction-related professions, which particularly impacts individuals from underrepresented and under-recognised groups. This is why the Diversity & Inclusion Panel Discussion is so crucial to the progression of the industry.

The panellists shared their personal experiences, how they had each developed the culture in their own workplaces and the need for greater inclusion across the construction industry.

The audience took away food for thought about what they each could do to facilitating a dialogue and ask open questions whilst embracing difference and creating environments where everyone can thrive.

This Fbe event was sponsored by Curtins and held in their office space in Leeds.

Samantha has been volunteering with the Fbe Leeds branch for the past three years working with a regional committee focused on linking like-minded people together to collaborate, debate and deliver excellence in the built environment.
