Frimley Park Hospital Scanning Facility is on site, but not for long…

We are working with leading design and build modular contractor Reds 10 to develop a modular solution for a new temporary scanning facility at Frimley Park Hospital.

The new 360m2 facility which contains one MRI and two CT scanners was manufactured off-site at Reds 10 factory in East Yorkshire.  The facility was installed using a 500t super crane over the August Bank Holiday weekend, only 13 weeks after appointment.

Frimley Park Hospital required a temporary facility to house their scanning department for 3 years whilst a new diagnostic imaging suite is being built.  Modular manufacturing was an obvious choice for less disruption on site, the speed of construction and meeting programme deadlines in line with the decommissioning of the existing facilities.

Working closely with the project team, Siemens Healthcare, Canon Medical Systems, Mark Wilde electrical, Wardray Premise and Calder Lead this project will be delivered on a very quick programme of 5 weeks in the factory and 8 weeks onsite.  The ground works started whilst the building was being manufactured to reduce the overall build programme.  Majority of the M&E work was completed in the factory.  The site is very restricted and we had to be respectful of the entrances, therefore, all the plant equipment was designed to be installed onto the rooftop plant deck which also has the benefit of reducing the footprint for the development.

In other news, the healthcare team, Richard Sykes, Charlotte Raywood and Julius Guevarra are currently working on a range of NHS projects to improve their estates in their 70th year.
