National Inclusion Week 2021 – Everyone is Welcome

This week is National Inclusion Week 2021! Inclusion is something we are passionate about at Bowman Riley.

National Inclusion Week 2021 is designed to celebrate everyday inclusion in all its forms. This is the 9th year Inclusive Employers has brought organisations together from across the globe to celebrate, share and inspire inclusion practices. Each day we will be sharing an Inclusion themed post.

Today’s theme is ‘Everyone is Welcome and valued’.  We asked some of our new starters in 2021 to tell us about how welcome they have felt joining our team.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first few months working at Bowman Riley. The team has been endlessly supportive and welcoming and the attitude towards growth has been really positive. The team encouraged voicing my opinions and actively wanted to know what parts of the work I enjoyed the most, whilst encouraging work on projects where I could develop skills not learnt at university. I was offered three days in the office, and two days at home, which has created a really nice work/home life balance for me whilst still allowing me to create connections with my colleagues” Madelaine Bradley, Graduate Architectural Technologist, London

“I have been here at Bowman Riley for just over two months now.  As a new graduate into the industry, Bowman Riley has been welcoming, supportive and encouraging; just what an aspiring Architectural Technologist needs.  Plenty of guidance has been given and I have not felt scared or discouraged to ask questions when unsure. An important thing for me has been to always say when I don’t know how to do something, and my colleagues have been helpful and encouraging when I do so. I have been given a variety of tasks, learning a great deal along the way, and inspired to continue learning more each week. Bowman Riley has been very accommodating, making me really feel part of the team through invitations to frequent company activities and events.” Adam Rollerson, Graduate Architectural Technologist, Leeds

“From my very first day, everyone at Bowman Riley has made me feel very welcome and part of the team. Induction was very well organised, thoughtful, and thorough meaning I got all the help I needed to settle into my job quickly and to get to know everyone. Adopting a more agile way of working has really helped me to juggle my home and work life commitments too.” Rachel Knight, Architectural Assistant, Skipton.

Look out for more posts during the week.
