Upper Wharfedale Cricket Clubhouse gets the Green Light
Upper Wharfedale Cricket Club in Grassington has achieved planning permission to develop a new Clubhouse Pavilion thanks to the support of Yorkshire based Bowman Riley Architects and planning consultancy, Rural Solutions.
Located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Upper Wharfedale Cricket Club is a community club that plays cricket at all levels bringing junior cricketers through their ranks into the senior teams. The Clubhouse will provide the cricket club members with a safe place to play and a venue to host social events and to hire for community use.
The new two storey Clubhouse has been designed to look like a traditional Yorkshire barn to fit harmoniously into its beautiful surroundings featuring a glazed façade facing the cricket oval to take advantage of the spectacular views.
Working together Bowman Riley Architects and Rural Solutions assisted the Cricket Club through the planning approval process. Collaborating with the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the companies organised design development meetings and provided additional 3D concept drawings to perfect the appearance of the Pavilion to secure planning.
Tim Lockett, President, Upper Wharfedale Cricket Club said:
“We are delighted that the new Clubhouse building has finally achieved planning approval. The current pavilion has done a job for 40 years but with junior and senior cricket now happening 6 days a week during the summer, we are desperately in need of a new building that can serve cricket and the community for the next 100 years. The design and space will also allow us to generate much needed revenue throughout the season. We can now begin in earnest raising the funding required to make the project happen as soon as possible.”
