Verona – Cultural Trip 2022

Verona – Cultural Trip 2022

On Saturday, 1st October marked the start of this year’s cultural trip to the Italian city of Verona for a weekend of sightseeing, team building, eating and drinking.  The cultural trip is a colleague-organised activity rather than an official Bowman Riley event.

After a two-year hiatus due to Covid, the cultural trip attracted more people than ever, with 18 people joining in the fun with representation from each of our offices.

Well organised by Chris Snowden, our team took flights from Manchester or London and stayed in a boutique city centre hotel.

The London team arrived first and spent the Saturday enjoying the sights of the medieval city of Verona (a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its urban structure and architecture) and saw the Arena, an ancient Roman amphitheatre and the underwhelming Juliet’s balcony from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (although it’s unlikely that Shakespeare ever visited Italy). The Leeds and Skipton team arrived later in the day, and everyone enjoyed an al fresco pizza dinner in the piazza before drinks in town (a few even made it to a nightclub in the hills).

On Sunday, most of our team headed to the town of Sirmione, one of the most popular spots on Lake Garda. We took in the view of the picturesque peninsula, and the more adventurous jumped into the lake for a quick swim. It was a perfect day with blue skies, a delightful 23 degrees, and sunshine.

In the evening, we gathered again for dinner in the piazza and drinks before heading to bed before flights back.
