New Market Street – Skipton

Bowman Riley provided architectural design services and space planning to elevate a mixed-use property in the centre of the market town of Skipton.

The three-storey building was underused with a retail unit on the ground floor and vacant residential accommodation above. Our brief was to remodel the building to maximise the residential space above by increasing the number of bedrooms.

Through efficient space planning, the internal layout was reconfigured, transforming the existing space from a one and two-bedroom apartment into spacious two and three-bedroom high-quality accommodations.

Our design modernised and refurbished this existing mixed-use property and converted an outbuilding into a stylish studio apartment, bringing life back into this historic building.

We increased the building’s sustainability by replacing the existing windows with new ones that are more energy efficient and improving the thermal efficiency of the building fabric.

Our designs resulted in an increase in property value and marketed the accommodations to a broader audience.
